In the case of friction of the sliding surfaces, corrosion of the cylinder cutoff holes and the cutting edges of the piston or corrosion due to acids, the sliding surfaces are cut- off and the whole of the cylindrical plunger & barrel must be replaced.
GMD has developed the Plunger & Barrel remanufacturing service since 1979 through reverse engineering, advanced materials analysis techniques and ultra-modern multi axis CNC machines, which keeps us constantly uplifting. After a very detailed visual and dimensional inspection of the barrel arrangement, a report is sent to the customer about the condition of the fuel element and the option to proceed with the remanufacturing. The “Plunger & Barrel remanufacturing service” includes fine grinding to restore cylindricity and to build a slightly oversized plunger as the original.
