In the case of friction of the sliding surfaces, corrosion of the cylinder cutoff holes and the cutting edges of the piston or corrosion due to acids, the sliding surfaces are cut- off and the whole of the cylindrical plunger & barrel must be replaced.

We recommend that Governors are overhauled around 20,000 working hours or 3 years. Regular maintenance will prolong the life of the Governor and help the engine run more effectively. Slide fuel valves, have become mandatory by IMO and are fitted on all modern MAN two stroke engines. Based on OEM instructions, slide fuel valves should be overhauled every 8000 running hours and replaced with new at 16000 running hours.
GMD as a pioneer again has developed a service of overhauling non-return valves. Following OEMs instructions, non- return valves that cannot be overhauled due to excessive wear have to be replaced with new.
GMD has developed remanufacturing service of Suction & Puncture Valves since 1979. When damages such as wear on valve slide seat or thrust piece seat occur, OEM recommends Suction or Puncture valves, depending on the situation, to be replaced with new.
